about.
To celebrate getting through an important phase of my life, I decided to create an animation based on what I was thinking at that moment. In that phase, I felt the need to refresh my mind and redefine the path I wanted to take. I reorganized my direction and the steps to reach it. To mark that moment, I made this animation as a reminder and a milestone for my future. It celebrates the phase I’ve completed while also serving as a guide I can return to whenever I feel stuck.
result.
In this animation, I work with several objects: an envelope, an eye, the mind, and a flower.
The envelope represents a “congratulations” message from me to myself for getting through that life phase.
The eye represents how, as humans, we currently see, interpret, and derive meaning mainly through vision.
The mind represents my intention in this stage to reconstruct my thoughts, which had been in disarray.
The flower is the result of all these processes.
I feel that if we rely only on the eyes, there are many dimensions we cannot truly sense. But at this stage, I can only interpret the universal language through the eyes, which then flows into the mind. I am still learning to interpret that universal language through the heart. If one day my heart becomes more fluent than my eyes in understanding meaning, I will create an animation about that too. But for marking this current phase of my life, I work only with the eye.
process.
In this process, I created a frame-by-frame animation combined with motion graphics. When making animation, I’m usually used to imagining every single frame in detail. But for this piece, I didn’t overthink it and I stopped whenever it felt sufficient. I was curious to see how I could eventually blend the frame-by-frame sequences with motion-based movement.
