about.
This piece is a response to the stage I’m in, both in creating and in living. It is a work that responds to routine, to the repetition of feelings, and to the fear that the cycle of life will continue in the same way into the future. I tried to depict that cycle of routine through three panels that represent those emotions.
result.
In the three panels representing that routine, I used a flower, a hand with a crown, and a person with a cigarette. These reflect my activities in life and in creating.
The flower and the eye represent the ability to see things, interpret universal language, and turn those interpretations into opportunities.
The hand and the crown represent achievement by the results of effort already made.
The person with the cigarette represents moments of relaxing and thinking, “What’s next?”
I feel these things in every stage of my life, and because I feel them, those are the images that came to mind. After finishing the piece, I rewatched it repeatedly and realized something. I began asking myself: “Why is there no celebration?”
Even in a work I created for myself, I learned something: my life lacks celebration.
process.
In this piece, the entire animation process was done frame by frame. From roughs to clean-up and coloring, I used Callipeg for the rough animation, Procreate Dreams for coloring, and After Effects for compositing. In compositing, I didn’t do much just mainly just added a glow effect.
